About Wizbook

Wizbook is a free, privacy-focused Magic: The Gathering collection manager. No account is required, and nothing is kept in the cloud unless you choose to use Wizbook Cloud. Your data is never harvested.

Wizbook exists because managing a card collection should not mean keeping a spreadsheet, and it should certainly not mean handing your data to somebody else in exchange for an account. Your collection is yours. Full stop.

Collectors do not only collect. They trade and they sell, and they move between platforms as those platforms come and go. That's why Wizbook supports importing from TCGPlayer, Deckbox.org, ManaBox, Moxfield, and Archidekt, and exporting to all five of them, so your collection can move wherever you need it.

A letter from the founder

I want to tell you about my promise to you.

I made Wizbook because I wanted to give back to the community. In fact! It came about from a conversation I had with a good friend over a decade ago about Magic The Gathering and the landscape of apps.

We're surrounded by Magic collection managers, deck builders, excel spreadsheets, apps and all kinds of everything in between... but none of it feels like an easy enough workable tool that has it all in one place. So we dreamt of something that could feel that way...

Wizbook is not meant to replace any of what you are used to. It's meant to live within your existing toolset and complement you as a collector and as a player. In doing so a lot of focus and effort has been put into giving you complete control over your data, but also give you some awesome tools you can play with.

My promise to you? My promise is that I'll always allow you to take your collection with you for FREE. It's yours. Not mine. Whether it is to export to another tool, or to walk away completely from Wizbook. I didn't make it to lock you in. You can use Wizbook local with no strings attached.

I made Wizbook so you could come and go as you please and hopefully enjoy it while you are here. If you're here for little or long, thank you for trying Wizbook. I've been thinking about this project for over a decade, and making it a reality has truly been a joy.

Card Data & Image Attribution

All card data and card images displayed in Wizbook are sourced from Scryfall via their publicly available API. Wizbook is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Scryfall.

Card data is downloaded to your local machine on first launch and stored in the data/ folder inside the Wizbook application directory. Card images are fetched on demand from Scryfall and cached locally for the duration of your session only, and they are permanently deleted every time the application closes.

Privacy & Data Retention

Without an account, Wizbook collects no personal data at all. With one, it holds your email address and your display name, and nothing else.

There are no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Wizbook keeps a plain tally of how often features are used, the sort of counter you would keep on a wall: 405 searches, 30 decks built. It records no identity of any sort, so it cannot tell one person from another, and it never leaves the server.

Wizbook makes three kinds of outbound request and no others: to Scryfall for card data and images, to OCR.space when you use the card scanner (it receives the cropped card name and nothing else about you), and to Patreon once a day to check which supporters should have Cloud unlocked.

Without an account your collection lives in an isolated server session that is deleted automatically once that session ends, so download it as a file to keep it. With an account it is saved to your account instead, and you can export or delete it whenever you like. Nothing is ever sold or shared with third parties. Your data will never be sold or analysed. Ever.

You can delete your account and everything stored for it at any time, from Your account in the menu. It removes the account, every collection synced to it and your patron status here, immediately and for good. Export first if you want to keep your cards; nothing about having used Wizbook Cloud makes leaving it harder.

Terms of Use

Wizbook is provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial use.
Wizbook is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Use it at your own risk.
The developer is not liable for any loss of collection data. Back up your collection regularly using Export → Wizbook JSON and store the file somewhere safe.
Wizbook does not facilitate card sales directly and is not a commercial reseller of Magic: The Gathering products.
You are solely responsible for complying with the terms of service of any third-party platform (TCGPlayer, Deckbox.org, ManaBox, etc.) when using files exported from Wizbook.
Wizbook may not be used to reproduce, redistribute, or commercially exploit any card art, card text, or other intellectual property owned by Wizards of the Coast or Scryfall.

Everything Wizbook serves to your browser, the HTML, CSS and JavaScript you can already read with View Source, is released under the MIT License. Copy it, learn from it, ship it.

That is a licence for the client-side code, not an open-source project: the development repository is private. It also does not cover anything that is not ours to license, which is why the paragraphs above exist.
